아리랑 (Arirang) is a traditional Korean folk song with regional variants across the Korean peninsula. It is over 600 years old. Its themes are love, desire, separation, and longing, a song about the ache of being far from someone you cannot stop thinking about.
BIGHIT MUSIC has framed the album as one that "captures BTS's identity as a group that began in Korea." That framing is the official one, everything else is interpretation. The album picks the title for its weight and lets the music carry the meaning, rather than treating the folk song as a sample or a direct quote.

Start here. It's the lead single, the synth-pop heart of the album, and the song the music video introduces ARIRANG with. Watch the MV first, then come back for the album.
If SWIM left you wanting something quieter, this is the song. One of the two emotional closers, confessional, vocal-led, and the cleanest example of ARIRANG's softer second half.

One week after ARIRANG, BTS released Keep Swimming, a nine-track remix project built around the lead single. The tracklist: the original SWIM, an instrumental version, and seven remixes, each one shaped to reflect one of the seven members' personal taste in music.
